This program is an introduction to computer-aided drafting (CAD) using CAD software in the market. It explores basic dimensioning, editing and drawing manipulation functions. The program also covers additional topics, including tool and die making, power work, holding devices and modular tooling systems. No previous computer experience is required to get started in the Engineering Design & Drafting Technologist program.
Through a series of real-life case studies, you’ll learn how to evaluate engineering designs using such time-honoured principles as consistency and alignment. You’ll explore the fundamentals of design technology with an introduction to computers and internet concepts before progressing to advanced applications such as AutoCAD, AutoDesk Inventor and SolidWorks. Gain hands-on experience with the software and tools used across industries today.
